Campus Ministry

During the college years, many young people are living away from their family and congregation for the first time. Our Savior gladly offers students a church home-away-from-home.

God’s Word and His Sacraments (baptism and communion) are at the center of Christian life at Our Savior. It is with these as a base that we seek to reach out to the local college communities with the love of Jesus Christ.

Immediately following the Sunday morning worship service, we offer students a free home-cooked meal with a Bible study, called "Table Talk." This study usually builds on the theme of the day’s message, and wraps up within an hour – allowing the busy student time to get back to hitting the books! All college students, Lutheran or otherwise, are invited.

We also hold a midweek evening Bible study for college students, which offers both time for peer fellowship and an in-depth study of God’s Word. Participants suggest topics for discussion, which helps to promote active, relevant Christian reflection. Our studies have included current issues, church doctrine, and books of the Bible.

Lutheran Student Fellowship is a registered student organization at SIU-C. We seek to provide worship, service, and social opportunities for Lutheran students. We plan activities throughout the school year (as well as during summer sessions), including: dinners, hiking trips, retreats, and anything else that fosters growing and learning among Lutheran students.

We Offer Support

Pastor Gray has a background in counseling and is an adjunct counselor for SIU-C. You may wish to see him as a counselor, someone to bounce ideas off of, or simply as a friend. Pastor Gray wants to be available to you, and you may call him at the church office or at home.

We Offer A Getaway

We are a getaway for both studies and recreation. We have a comfortable big-screen TV lounge, where you can sit with friends and relax, or your may choose to engage in some friendly competition at our ping-pong and pool tables.

When you need to hit the books, we have a very quiet facility and ample space for uninterrupted study. The church building is open daily (check the schedule page) for anyone who wants to stop by.
